Our new habit

We finally found a use for the nice gift card I received from one of the Condo Association Boards before we left Charlotte. We've been trying to figure out what to use it on, something that we wouldn't normally spend money on. We decided to feed our new found birding habit. We took a trip to Wild Birds Unlimited here on the island and stocked up on a bunch of feed and cool birding stuff. We had 2 wooden feeders and a suet feeder, but the squirrels were destroying them trying to get at the food. So...we bought the Advanced Pole System (squirrel baffle included), along w/ 2 new feeders, a finch sock and some new "bug" suet; oh, and a Bluebird house. It has been amazing seeing the birds find the new feeders and especially the new feed - in just 24 hours! Today we had a pair of Cedar Waxwings and what I think was a female Baltimore Oriole along w/ our normal variety of Finches, Tit Mouses, Chickadees, Carolina Wrens, Sparrows, Cardinals, Blue Jays and of course, the Red Bellied Woodpecker along w/ a Mockingbird. The Eastern Bluebird that has been coming to the birdbath has been seriously checking out the birdhouse, I hope he/she moves in :)
